Boys LT Golf Tryouts 2026-2027
Dates:
May 6th & 7th at Yaupon 9 holes each day (First Cut)
May 13th & 14th at Live Oak 9 holes each day (Second Cut)
Tryout Structure: 36 holes (4 days - 9 holes each day First Cut after Day 2)
*Players MUST Break 100 to move on to day 3.
Tryout Criteria
9th Grade 96 or lower
10th Grade 90 or lower
11th Grade 85 or lower
12th Grade 80 or lower
JV or Varsity placement will be done using qualifying scores, prior season averages, outside tournament scores, work ethic, grades, discipline issues etc.. making the team doesn’t mean you’ve made the Varsity.
**Solid performance on the JV will get you opportunities to play in Varsity events and prove yourself.**
Tryouts are done in a 36 hole qualifier B6200+ yards or more done over several days. UIL 9 Max Score, normal USGA rules apply. Players must know rules. Current or Past Varsity players and or coaches will accompany each group to ensure scores are accurate.
*Players who did not qualify during the tryout or move into the district can also qualify by providing the scoring link to summer tournaments played. Provided they are reputable events (LJT, TJGT, AJGA, etc.) from the appropriate yardages, scores can be accepted in lieu of tryouts.
Exempt from Tryouts:
Full Exemption: Returning Varsity players with a sub 80 scoring average
Regional qualifiers
2 year Varsity members
Day 1 & 2 Exemption: Returning JV Players with a sub 90 scoring average.
Rules: UIL 9 Max Score, normal USGA rules apply
All players trying out should be familiar with basic etiquette and rules of the game (i.e. Penalty Area options, cart path relief, ground under repair, lost ball options, what to do when you hit a ball out of bounds, etc.)
